“Amid the ongoing debate over ban on Halal-certified products imposed by the Uttar Pradesh government, the union minister of development and panchayati raj, Giriraj Singh in a letter to Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked for a similar ban on Halal certified products in the state of Bihar as well.
In the letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Giriraj Singh asserted that many food items and essential goods, including dry fruits, cosmetics, sweets, oil, salt and medical equipment with Halal certification, are being supplied in the market. However, such items are only bound to be certified by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The union minister has further alleged that Islamic corporatisation of items alien to Islam are also being carried out under Halal business module, and a few self-styled organisations are certifying the products of companies after securing large sums of money from them……”
