Indian Army thwarts back-to-back terrorist infiltration attempts in J&K

On 23rd July, it was reported that the Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt by terrorists in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir early that morning. The attack launched around 3 AM, led to an exchange of heavy fire in which one soldier was injured.

In June 2024, the Indian Army launched a major anti-infiltration operation in the Uri sector following credible intelligence inputs about terrorist infiltration attempts across the Line of Control (LoC).

The Indian Army has been thwarting infiltration attempts by terrorists in the region almost on a daily basis. Here is a list of 2 other infiltration attempts thwarted by the Army in the month of July alone.

On 18th July, two terrorists were neutralised as security forces foiled an infiltration attempt at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector. Acting on credible intelligence from JKP and other agencies, alert troops observed and challenged the infiltrators, leading to an intense firefight. The operation resulted in the elimination of the terrorists and the recovery of weapons, war-like stores, and a Pakistani identity card.

On 14th July, the Indian Army neutralised three terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Kashmir Valley via the Line of Control in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. This marked the first major infiltration attempt in Keran this year. The militants opened fire when challenged by the Army, leading to a firefight in which all three were killed. Weapons and other war-like stores were recovered. Previously, Keran was a favored infiltration route but had been relatively calm, leading to the area being opened for tourism last year.

This is not the first time that the Armed forces is thwarting infiltration attempts. Several such instances have been reported in the past. However, they often go unnoticed.
