West Bengal: Unidentified goons tried to abduct Hindu woman and her minor daughter for voting opposition party, stabbed while resisted

Violence and murder has been witnessed during Panchayat election this year. And after the elections, news of violence are coming in from different parts of West Bengal.

A Hindu family of Coochbehar district alleged that unidentified goons tried to abduct her minor daughter because they voted for opposition party, that is Forward Block. When resisted, they were stabbed with sharp weapons.

Dipali Roy lives at 141 Kamat village in Changrabandha area under Mekhliganj station. The village is situated near Bharat-Bangladesh International border.

Dipali Roy narrated, “During 1 AM of Tuesday night, unidentified goons broke into my house. My minor daughter and I was sleeping. They grabbed my daughter. They were trying to take her away. I resisted and shouted for help. They stabbed both me and my daughter with sharp weapons.”

She further narrated, “ Hearing my screaming, Jawans of nearby BSF camps came and rescued us. Later, neighbours took us to Changrabandha Block Primary Hospital. On-duty Doctor referred us to Mekhliganj Sub-Divisional Hospital.”

Dipali Roy has been living in her house with her only daughter. After the death of her husband, she has been managing her family doing farming works. She alleged, “While goons beating us, they were asking me why I had voted for Forward Block instead of ruling party TMC”.

Her neighbours also alleged that in panchayat elections, Forward Block candidate Nannu Rahman won the 71 no. seat in Gram Panchayat and TMC candidate got defeated. So, TMC-backed goons are continuously threatening villagers to face the consequences.

Meanwhile, TMC denied all the allegations. Dipali Roy filed a written complaint in Mekhliganj police station. In her complaint, she sought immediate arrest of the goons and demanded security for her family. As of now, no arrests made.
