West Bengal: Islamists attack Raksha Kali Puja immersion procession in Diamond Harbour, several Hindus injured

Another case of an attack on the Hindus is reported from Diamond Harbour of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

Islamists allegedly attacked a Raksha Kali Puja immersion procession in the Kalagachhia area of Sarisha. The incident occurred on the 8th of April, Monday night.

Hindu villagers organised the puja of Raksha Kali Mata in Kalagachhia. As per the tradition, the Murti is immersed in the same night.

After the puja, Hindus let out a procession to immerse the Murti. A song on Prabhu Sri Ram was played. But, some Islamists objected to it. They threatened to stop the music. When the Hindus denied it, a scuffle broke out. Later, it turned into anti-Hindu violence.

Armed with swords and other country-made arms, Islamists attacked the immersion procession. Women, children and youths were beaten mercilessly. Many Hindus fled from the scene to save their lives.

Taking to ‘X’, BJP leader and the President of Singha Bahini, Sri Devdutta Maji, alleged that the attack was pre-planned and TMC leader Sheikh Shamim orchestrated the attack. He also shared a video of the violence.

As per the sources, after the incident, a team of Police rushed to the area. Also, RAF were deployed in the area to prevent any more violence.
