West Bengal: A Hindu girl is allegedly raped and murdered in Mothabari of Maldah 

institutionalised mass rape of Hindu women in Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas district, news of the alleged rape and murder of a Hindu girl is coming in from the Maldah district of West Bengal. 

This morning, the dead body of a girl is found in a cornfield at Sripur village under the jurisdiction of the Mothabari Police Station of the Maldah district. The village comes under the Hamidpur Gram Panchayat area. 

Locals saw that the body of the girl was lying in the field. There were several stab marks on her body. Her clothes were torn. They immediately informed the police. Later, the body was sent for postmortem. 

The girl is identified as Kalpana Mondal(24). She went missing yesterday evening around 7 pm. Her family members searched but couldn’t find her.

A local woman said, “Yesterday evening, we returned home after visiting Saraswati Puja mandap. Then, she came to her home. Later, she went missing.”

A family member alleged, “With the marks on her body, it is clear that she has been brutally murdered. I think she has been raped and murdered after abduction.”

As of now, the Police have started a formal investigation. No one has been arrested so far.
