Uttar Pradesh: Angered by police inaction, youth takes law into own hands – kills sister’s harasser

Mehandi Hasan, a 23-year-old man from Bilalpat village, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, had indulged in repeated harassment of a girl named Ankita from Lakdi villege. Atul had a dispute with Mehndi Hasan over talking to his sister. Despite Ankita’s brother, Atul’s repeated warnings, Hassan continued speaking with Ankita and persisted in harrassing her.

Following this behaviour, Atul tried to get the police involved and have action taken against Hassan. However, due to police inaction, Hassan continued harassing Ankita. Unable to withstand the torture, Atul took law into his own hands and murdered Hassan who was on his way to the Asmoli sugar mill.

Mehndi Hasan, a resident of Bilalpat village in the police station area, went to the Asmoli sugar mill to put sugarcane, around 2 a.m. on January 20. Reports reveal that on Sunday evening, around 4:30, his body was found lying in a hut in the field near the mill, while the tractor-trailer was also missing. Mehndi was shot dead. On Sunday, ASP Kuldeep Singh Gunavat disclosed the murder at the Bahjoi office. The police arrested two suspects on Sunday and disclosed the murder. Meanwhile, two others are still at large.

The main accused in the murder, Atul, said that Mehndi Hasan used to talk to his sister. He opposed it several times because of religious issues, but Mehndi Hasan did not stop talking and continued the harassment. Following this, Atul decided to conclude the matter when he decided to plot the murder. He, along with Ankita and two other friends from Lakdi village in the Majhola police station area of Muradabad, were involved. He said that on the night of January 20, when Mehndi Hasan went to the Asmoli sugar mill with sugarcane, he was caught in the forest of Khanpur. First, he was beaten up severely and then shot dead. The murder was committed, the tractor-trailer was hidden in the jungle of Seedalmafi village, and sugarcane was thrown everywhere on the way.

Atul seemed to have involved his three friends in the conspiracy and kept waiting for the opportunity. When Mehndi Hasan left with sugarcane for the Asmoli sugar mill on the night of January 20, he was stopped on the way. He was taken to a hut in a field near Khanpur Band and murdered.

Two accused involved in the murder have been arrested and sent to jail. The guns used in the murder have also been recovered. Two accused are on the run and are being searched. Kuldeep Singh Gunavat, ASP, and Sambhal stated that the other two will also be arrested soon.

This is an unfortunate instance where police inaction has caused a youth to be involved in such a heinous crime. Love jihad is not a fantasy as described by leftist liberals – it is very much there in the open for us to see. Such reports of harassment, promise of marriage, and subsequent forced conversions are nothing but love jihad.
