Three arrested in Aligarh for harassing and trying to convert Hindu student to Islam: UP

On Monday (20 May), Aligarh police arrested three people for harassing and trying to convert a female Hindu student forcibly.

The incident started when the student went to Chharra town to write her B.Ed exam. While returning home, a man and his friends began following her. They had been bothering her for several days. The girl informed her uncle, and her family accompanied her to the exam centre. The harassment stopped for a while but resumed on Monday. The men followed her again and caused a disturbance outside her house. They even tried to pull her dupatta.

According to Bharat Samachar, they also attempted to convert her to Islam forcibly. Locals caught the men and beat them up before handing them over to the police. News of the incident spread and members of Hindu organizations gathered outside the Quarsi Police Station, demanding strict action against the culprits.

In a tweet, Aligarh police confirmed that three people were arrested and assured that the situation is now under control.
