Telangana: BRS MLA’s daughter calls him land grabber, returns land to government

In an unusual move, the daughter of a Telangana MLA on Sunday returned to the government a land which she claimed was grabbed by her father.

Tulja Bhavani Reddy, daughter of Jangaon BRS MLA Muttireddy Yadagiri Reddy, surrendered 1,200 square yards land to Cheriyal municipality in Siddipet district.

The woman, who publicly called her father a land grabber, said the land was part of a lake and was illegally registered in her name.

Tulja Bhavani, who has been haunting her father by publicly questioning his misdeeds, also stated that the 70-year-old leader, who is a two-time MLA and who earns Rs.1.5 crore per year in rent alone should not have done this.

Apologising to the people of Cheriyal for the land grabbing by her father, she announced that she would submit the papers for transfer of land through court to ensure that there is no litigation.

She, along with her supporters, removed the fencing around the land and put up a board, apologising to the people.

She said her father should not have resorted to land grabbing as he owned Rs.1,000 crore assets even before he became the MLA.

The ruling party MLA has been facing allegations of land grabbing since 2014 when he was first elected to the Telangana Assembly. Tulja Bhavani has been turning up at public events attended by her father and questioning him in public for allegedly forging her signature and grabbing her land.

At a public function on June 19, she questioned her father on how a land got registered in her name without her knowledge and with her forged signature.

Last month, she had lodged a complaint with the Uppal police in Hyderabad alleging that the MLA had forged her signature and grabbed 159 square yards of a commercial complex in Nacharam in the state capital.

The MLA, at that time, had denied the charge and had claimed that there were two plots of 125 square yards and a third of 150 square yards, on which the commercial complex was constructed. His son had given that commercial complex on lease to Canara Bank without his knowledge but the property was in his daughter’s name, the MLA claimed and alleged that his political rivals had provoked her.
