Stones pelted on Aastha special train to Ayodhya: Maharashtra

The Ayodhya-bound Aastha Special train from Surat faced a heavy stone-pelting incident near Nandurbar in Maharashtra on Sunday night. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. The railway police have filed a complaint against unknown individuals regarding the matter.

The train, flagged off by Union Minister of State for Railways and Surat BJP MP Darshana Jardosh, departed from Surat with 1,344 passengers aboard its 22 coaches. According to sources, the train was reserved for VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) and Ram Pratistha workers from Surat.

The incident occurred around 10:45 pm when the train was near Nandurbar railway station. Passengers felt stones thrown at the train, prompting them to alert Railway Police Force (RPF) officials. Upon reaching Nandurbar railway station, RPF teams recorded the passengers’ statements.

Despite the incident, the train was allowed to continue its journey to Ayodhya. T S Banerjee, assistant security commissioner of Surat (RPF), mentioned that investigations are ongoing, with RPF officials in Nandurbar conducting inquiries and providing updates.
