Shamim arrested for running an illegal firearms factory, rifle & other weapons recovered: Kanpur, UP

Police in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Kanpur Dehat, achieved a significant success by busting an illegal pistol manufacturing factory based on secret information. The police arrested the main accused, Shamim, and recovered materials used for making illegal pistols. This factory was raided just before the voting day in Kanpur on 13 May, raising fears that these weapons could have been used during the election.

During the raid, the police found four illegal pistols, cartridges, and equipment used for making weapons, including a semi-finished rifle. Shamim, the main accused, has a history of serious crimes in Kanpur rural areas and other cities, with many cases registered against him. Some individuals managed to escape during the raid, and the police are conducting further raids to apprehend them.

The police are interrogating Shamim to determine how long the factory had been operating, where its weapons were being supplied, and how many others were involved in the illegal arms manufacturing. The recovered items from the factory include an illegal pistol of 315 bore, one pistol of 312 rounds, three semi-finished pistols, two pistol bodies, iron plates, triggers, screws, and eight other items.
