Shahzad and Shabbir sentenced to 10 Years in prison for drug trafficking in Saharanpur: UP

In Saharanpur, Additional Sessions Judge Mohit Sharma sentenced Shahzad and Shabbir, from Samaspur village, to ten years in prison for drug trafficking. They were also fined Rs 1 lakh each.

The incident occurred on 29 May 2014. Sub-Inspector Asharam Shah was checking vehicles at the Jahanpur police post. He got a tip-off that three people were bringing drugs in a car from Yamunanagar. When the police stopped and searched the car, they found several bundles of poppy seeds.

The police arrested Shahzad, Shabbir, and Mohammad Chand, all from Samaspur village. After investigating, the police filed a charge sheet in court. The court sentenced Shahzad and Shabbir to ten years in prison and fined them Rs 1 lakh each. The third accused, Mohammad Chand, has passed away.
