Sambhajinagar, MH: Hindu youth defends Muslim girl from Sharia-policing mob

In a recent viral video from Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, a Hindu boy bravely shielded a Muslim girl from harassment by a Muslim mob. The boy was held hostage, while the girl faces coercion to remove her burka, shedding light on the dangers of Islamic extremism and Sharia policing. The video depicting Islamist mobs engaged in sharia policing has gone viral on social media. Although the name of the victim has not been disclosed, this incident is not the first of its kind in Sambhajinagar.

This incident reflects religious polarization events, where a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl are targeted merely for traveling together in Sambhajinagar. Despite their innocent companionship, they become victims of harassment and intimidation by a group purportedly enforcing Sharia-based moral codes. Similar incidents in the past provide evidence that such religious policing has occurred in Sambhajinagar.

This incident has been falsely circulated on social media as a “Bhagwa Love Trap” by a few individuals. Many comments on Instagram and Twitter regarding this particular incident underscore the recurrent instances of moral policing in recent times.
