There has been an attack on the Pulloorkonam temple near Vizhinjam in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. Bottles filled with a mixture of petrol and another unknown liquid were lobbed into the temple. Following the incident, police arrested a local named Salahuddin.
CCTV cameras captured footage of the petrol bombs being thrown into the temple. The incident happened early on Wednesday before dawn. Devotees who arrived in the morning noticed the smashed bottles and informed the police. Investigators checked the video footage and identified the suspect as Salahuddin. He was captured on camera tossing the molotov cocktails at the temple.
Similar assaults on the temple have occurred in the past. Following those incidents, temple authorities installed CCTV cameras. Earlier, radical elements have thrown meat scraps into the temple premises. Temple authorities alleged that such attacks were part of a coordinated effort to destroy the religious harmony and tranquility in the area.
Incidentally, Vizhinjam is also the center of disruptive protests organized by the Church and neo-colonial forces to stop the development of a crucial port which will transform the region’s container shipping business and help Bharat become more self-reliant.
