In a shocking incident from the Lohianagar police station area, a nurse was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in a tempo. Based on the reports from Amar Ujala, the main accused, identified as Islamist Sadiq alias Addu, a resident of Hajipur village, has been arrested. The victim had filed a report against two individuals, including a woman who allegedly aided in the crime.
According to the police, the nurse, employed at a hospital on Garh Road, was waiting for a tempo at Tejgarhi crossing on 18th December, Wednesday evening, after completing her duty. The accused, Islamist Sadiq, arrived in a tempo and persuaded her to board the vehicle. A woman traveling in the same tempo reportedly offered the nurse a piece of gajak, which caused her to lose consciousness.
The victim stated that she was taken to a room in Alipur village, where she was physically assaulted. Islamist Sadiq allegedly raped her, while the accompanying woman also participated in the violence. When the nurse regained consciousness, she found herself in a vulnerable state and managed to escape. She informed her family about the ordeal after reaching a nearby house.
On Thursday, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers visited the Lohianagar police station, demanding strict action against the accused. The police responded promptly, arresting Sadiq and presenting him before the court, which sent him to jail. Efforts are underway to locate the woman accomplice involved in the crime.
CO Kotwali Ashutosh Kumar confirmed the arrest and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to bring the culprits to justice.
