Rizwan Gaffar arrested for trapping a Hindu girl by posing as Karan & forcing her to convert to Islam: Surat

Rizwan Gaffar Shah was arrested by Surat Police on the basis of a complaint filed by a Hindu woman who accused him of trapping her by posing as Karan.

Love Jihad case reported from Surat

A case involving allegations of love jihad has emerged in Surat city, where a Muslim youth by the name of Rizwan Gaffar Shah, using the Hindu alias Karan, is accused of deceiving a Hindu girl. He is alleged to have enticed her into a relationship under false pretenses and subsequently forcefully converted her to Islam after taking her to Delhi. The victim eventually discovered the truth, managed to escape the situation, and returned to Surat. With the support of her family, she filed a complaint with the Surat police. Subsequently, the accused individual, Rizwan Gaffar Shah, was apprehended, and legal proceedings were undertaken.

The Surat police acted swiftly, taking Rizwan Gaffar into custody following the registration of a case based on the victim’s complaint. He was subjected to intensive interrogation to gather additional information. Subsequently, he was expected to be presented before the court, where a request for remand would be made. ACP MD Upadhyay of the Surat police provided further details to the media regarding this ongoing case.

According to the available information, the victim first encountered Rizwan Gaffar Shah in 2018 when she was 17 years old. During this time, Gaffar assumed the false identity of Karan. The girl was employed at a factory, and the accused Gaffar worked as an autorickshaw driver, often providing transportation to her workplace. Their acquaintance gradually developed into a close friendship, eventually blossoming into a ‘romantic’ relationship.

Gaffar married the girl, ensnaring her in a love trap, even though she was a minor at the time of their marriage. Subsequently, the couple went to Delhi. As per the complaint, it was in Delhi that the accused revealed his true identity as a Muslim named Rizwan Gaffar Shah, not Karan. However, by this time, the victim was pregnant, and she continued to live with the accused.

Rizwan Gaffar forced the victim to wear the burqa

The victim alleged that Gaffar discouraged her from murti puja, citing the Muslim belief that they do not engage in such practices. Simultaneously, he began exerting pressure on her to convert to Islam. Eventually, the girl was forcibly converted to Islam, and Rizwan took her to his family in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Upon her arrival in UP, the victim gave birth to a daughter. It is alleged that Rizwan assaulted her, expressing his desire for a son. Furthermore, the girl stated in her complaint that while in UP, she was compelled to wear a burqa and was forbidden from leaving the house.

As time passed, the girl became pregnant for the second time and had a second child. She later discovered that Gaffar had been in contact with other Hindu girls. When confronted about this, Gaffar allegedly informed the victim that the more Hindu girls were ensnared by Muslim youths, the more money they would receive. He said, “I need more money right now, and the more Hindu girls we bring in, the more our religion will spread”.

As the victim could no longer endure the torment, she decided to confide in her family and returned to Surat. She lodged a complaint at the Pandesara police station, based on which the Surat police registered a case and arrested Rizwan Gaffar Shah, the accused in this case of love jihad.
