A young Hindu woman in Noida’s Phase-3 area has alleged that a Muslim man concealed his religious identity, trapped her in a relationship, filmed intimate moments, sexually assaulted her and extorted money over several months, triggering protests over alleged police inaction.
Allegations: Identity Concealment, Blackmail and Assault
According to reports, the complainant, originally from Madhya Pradesh and currently residing in Noida’s Phase-3 area, befriended the accused after he allegedly introduced himself under a false Hindu name and concealed that he belonged to a “special community”.
She has alleged that the accused promised marriage, then recorded objectionable photos and videos during their relationship and later used this material to blackmail her.
The woman has further claimed that under the threat of making these videos public, the accused repeatedly coerced her into sexual relations, amounting to rape under the pretext of marriage.
He also allegedly forced her to transfer money multiple times, with reports stating that he extracted around 70,000 rupees and eventually lakhs of rupees from her over a period of time.
Complaint and Timeline of Police Action
Local Hindi media reports state that the woman approached Phase-3 police station and lodged a formal complaint about the alleged blackmail, extortion and sexual assault.
Activists associated with Hindu organisations claim that despite the written complaint, there was no visible progress in the case for about 18 days to a month amounting to police inaction.
Leaders associated with Bajrang Dal say they took up the matter after the woman allegedly failed to get timely relief, asserting that the police neither promptly arrested the accused nor provided her adequate protection in the initial weeks after the complaint.
Police, on the other hand, maintain that an FIR has been registered on the basis of the victim’s complaint and that the case is under investigation, though details of specific penal sections invoked have not been publicly spelled out in available reports.
Hindu Organisations’ Protest at Phase-3 Police Station
The perceived delay in action led to a protest at the Phase-3 police station on Tuesday evening, drawing workers from the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal.
Reports say a large number of workers gathered at the station, raised slogans and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused, terming the episode a case of love jihad and religious deceit for sexual exploitation and financial gain.
Bajrang Dal’s city convenor Vinod Chauhan has been quoted as saying that about a month had passed since the complaint was filed and that the police had still not taken decisive steps, forcing the organisations to escalate the issue publicly.
During the demonstration, there was commotion and heated exchanges between protesters and the police, and the station premises were effectively gheraoed for some time as leaders sought written assurance of swift action.
Police Response and Official Statement
Central Noida Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) R.K. Gautam told the media that an FIR has been registered on the basis of the woman’s allegations.
He said that the police have begun a formal probe into the charges of cheating, blackmail, sexual assault and extortion, and that further action would follow on the basis of evidence gathered during investigation.
Officials have not publicly disclosed whether specific provisions related to religious identity concealment or anti-conversion allegations have been added, but the narrative in protests has centred strongly on the claim that the accused hid his religion and misled the woman into a relationship.
As of the latest reports, there was no clear confirmation in the public domain about the arrest status of the accused, nor about any recovery of the alleged objectionable videos or the money.
