A young man seen making Rotis by spitting on them during a wedding ceremony, has been arrested by the police. The video showing one Sohail aka Naushad spitting on the Rotis before putting them in the Tandoor at a marriage function in Meerut, UP had gone viral on social media.
After the video went viral, Hindu Jagran Manch reached the police station and lodged an FIR against the youth. Based on that FIR and the evidence of the video, police have arrested Sohail.

The wedding ceremony was being held at Aroma Garden in the medical station area of Meerut. It is seen in the video that, while making Rotis, Sohail spits on it and then keeps it in the oven for cooking. Hindu Jagran Manch mahanagar president Sachin Sirohi said that when the video of making Roti by spitting reached his mobile, he found out that the video is of a banquet hall in Meerut. When one of the guests noticed that the accused was spitting on the rotis, he secretly filmed the video and posted it on the internet.
The police, while examining the video, found that the video is from 16 February 2021, which was made during a wedding ceremony at Aroma Garden, Garh Road. The person seen in the video is Sohail, a resident of Dahar Samar Garden Police Station, Lisadi Gate, Meerut.
When the police questioned Sohail in custody, he confessed that it is indeed him in the video. At present, the police is engaged in taking legal action against the accused under IPC 268 (public nuisance), 269 (spreads infection), 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) and other sections of the Epidemic Act.

Similar incidents had come to light last year too when the Coronavirus pandemic was at its peak. After a video had gone viral showing a Muslim man slicing loaves of bread in a bakery and spitting on them – Maharashtra police arrested Abdul Nazim Sheikh Mahmood along with a minor, after a complaint was lodged by the bakery owner in Amravati. In April, fruit vendor Chand Mohammed was caught on CCTV while spitting on fruits before selling them in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. In another case, an FIR was lodged against 3 Muslim fruit vendors in Meerut, UP for spitting on fruits before selling them.
Sayyad Jameel Sayyad Babu was arrested in Malegaon for uploading a video in which he is seen licking currency notes and wiping his nose with it while claiming the novel coronavirus was “Allah’s punishment”.
