In a shocking case of sexual exploitation, Delhi Police arrested Mohammad Sohil, alias Sonu, a 26-year-old resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, for sexually exploiting a woman from Delhi under the pretext of marriage. The accused Islamist went a step further by secretly recording the victim’s intimate moments and posting them on Instagram, causing immense trauma to the victim. Authorities are also investigating the case from the angle of love jihad, highlighting the growing trend of manipulative tactics used under the guise of interfaith relationships.
As per Jagran, the victim, a 24-year-old woman identified as Damini (name changed), filed a complaint at Anand Parvat police station on June 26. She stated that Mohammad Sohil had lured her with promises of marriage, only to exploit her sexually. Following the assault, the accused secretly recorded her intimate videos and publicly uploaded them on Instagram, violating her privacy and dignity. An FIR was registered under sections 69/115(2)/351(2) of the BNS, and a special investigation team was immediately formed to handle the sensitive case.
Delhi Police conducted a meticulous investigation, combining call detail record (CDR) analysis with confidential intelligence, to track down the Islamist perpetrator. Acting on the findings, the special team arrested Mohammad Sohil from Badaun and seized digital evidence, including videos and other electronic material, confirming his criminal actions. The police are now examining whether the accused had accomplices and if similar crimes were committed against other victims.
Investigators revealed that the crime was executed with careful planning. The accused strategically gained the victim’s trust by offering marriage, only to exploit her for sexual gratification and public humiliation. By uploading the intimate videos on a social media platform, he not only violated the victim’s privacy but also deliberately sought to harm her reputation.
Delhi Police have emphasized the seriousness of such manipulative crimes and assured that a thorough investigation will continue. The case also raises serious concerns about the tactics used under the guise of love jihad to exploit women from Hindu families. Authorities are urging citizens to be cautious and report suspicious individuals attempting to deceive and exploit women under false pretenses.
Uttar Pradesh has increasingly become a hub of radical conversion activities, where elements ranging from hardened criminals to clerics like Maulana Jalaluddin have been leading organized rackets. Despite the presence of strict anti-conversion laws, such cases continue to emerge on a daily basis, exposing the loopholes in enforcement. If this unchecked rise of Islamic radical influence is not curbed decisively, it will pose a grave threat to Hindu girls and the public.
