A 6-year-old Hindu girl raped by 35-year-old Saud Ansari, who committed suicide fearing police action: Sant Kabir Nagar, UP

A disturbing case was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Sant Kabir Nagar District. On Friday night (31 May 2024), 35-year-old Saud Ansari raped a 6-year-old Hindu girl. The police team immediately acted to catch the accused after receiving the information. Meanwhile, the accused committed suicide on Sunday morning (2 June 2024). The police have taken the body of the accused into custody and sent it for post-mortem for further investigation.

Coverage of the barbarous incident in social media portal X (Twitter).

The case is from Danokuiyan village under the Dudhara police station in Sant Kabir Nagar district. In this case, the police registered a case under various IPC and POCSO Act sections. On receiving the information, Dudhara police sent the victim girl for medical examination and treatment, registered a case against the accused and formed four police teams to arrest Ansari. However, before the police could find him, his body was found hanging from a towel. It was reported that it was in the same room in which the girl was raped.

According to the information received, Saud Ansari, son of Mansoor Ali, resident of village Kanapar, worked at Danokuiyan village resident Mohammad Sameer’s shop. The victim came to the shop on Friday evening for a cold drink. Saud Ansari took advantage of the girl being alone and took her to the room behind the shop and raped her. The girl kept screaming, but Ansari did not relent.

He played the music system at a high volume in the room so that the girl’s noise did not go out of the room. When the girl did not return home even after a long time, the family sought the police’s help. The police reached the spot while searching for her. In the meanwhile, Saud Ansari raped the innocent girl and fled.

Seeing the plight of the girl soaked in blood, all the villagers gathered after hearing the father’s plea for help. Since the matter was between two communities, tension spread rapidly. People from Hindu organizations also started gathering. Meanwhile, someone informed the Dudhara police about the matter. After informing the higher authorities about the incident, Inspector-in-charge Pankaj Pandey reached the spot and sent the victim for treatment. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Satyajit Gupta also reached the spot. While pacifying the angry villagers, he formed four teams to arrest the accused and assured strict action against him.

Police teams were busy raiding every possible place to arrest him when the body of accused Saud Ansari was found hanging with the help of a towel in the same room where the innocent girl was brutally raped. Additional Superintendent of Police Shashi Shekhar Singh said that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. The police are trying to maintain the law and order situation in the area because of the sensitivity of the incident. Legal action is being taken in the case.

Instances of Hindu girls, particularly minors, being raped by Islamists are on the rise. Law enforcement authorities need to take the issue seriously and put in mechanisms to ensure the safety of Hindu girls. Even Hindu Samaj needs to be alert and make sure that their children are safe.
