In the case of grooming, 18-year-old Hindu girl Meenu was trapped by Irfan. The case has been reported from Chhattisgarh’s Basna.
“He trapped us and married my daughter. We are both Muslims and hence he convinced us to accept the alliance. But he didn’t keep my daughter properly even for five months. He has now trapped a Hindu girl for money & wealth. Her parents have also come here to complain”, Irfan’s mother-in-law told the media. She also said that Irfan had eloped with Meenu and had been absconding for the past two months.
She further informed that Irfan forced Meenu to embrace Islam, wear burkha, and eat beef. He has been caught from his relatives’ place in Sarangarh. She alleged that his entire family is into grooming and they target Hindu girls. She cited the example of his maternal uncle and paternal aunt’s sons as well as other brothers, all of whom have married Hindu women. She said that this is a well-planned grooming jihad.
His first wife spoke to the media and informed them that he had eloped with the girl. He has returned after two months and is now claiming to have married Meenu by citing a 50 rupees stamp paper. “He had an illicit affair with a girl named Khushi Yadav earlier by making false marriage promise”, she added.
She appealed to the Muslim community to boycott him and also ensure that he was punished in accordance with law. She said that she has been married for 9 years with the accused and they have two children. She highlighted that Irfan and his family members have been booked under section 498A of the IPC (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty).
“They used to lock me up in a room and beat me as well as demand dowry”, his first wife said. She further alleged that he has been spreading rumors saying he has divorced his first wife and paid her 30 lakhs for her maintenance. “We are not divorced and I’m still his legal wife”, she concluded while adding that 18-year-old Meenu be returned to her Hindu family.
