Kolkata: Naked dead body of a student found in Jadavpur University, family alleged murder after ragging

The Jadavpur University of Kolkata saw outrage from students after a naked dead body of a student was found inside the campus. Swapnadip Kundu was a student of Bengali Honours and came to University Hostel a few days ago. But his naked dead body was found on the 9th of August beside the hostel.

Swapnadip Kundu was a resident of Bogula in the Nadia district of West Bengal. He was a meritorious student and passed Engineering Entrance Examination. But his love for Bengali literature brought him to Jadavpur University, said his near and dear ones.

His father already filed a complaint at Jadavpur Police Station. He alleged that his son is murdered after ragging. As per sources, police also filed a case of murder and have started the investigation.

Swapnadip’s father alleged, “A few days ago, my son went to the University Hostel. But after two days, my son called his mother and told her that he wants to come back home. He was tortured there by senior students. If I listened to him then, I may have my son with me.”

Notably, Left and Ultra Left students organisation have a stronghold in Jadavpur University. Because of that, the University has seen many violent protests. Also, in past, ‘Azadi’ was being heard inside the University campus. After the death of Swapnadip, many students are expressing their experience of torture and ragging on Social media.
