A shocking case of sexual assault involving a 14-year-old Hindu girl has been reported from the Jevargi police station limits in Kalaburagi district. The accused Islamist, identified as Ismail Sheikh, kidnapped the minor and repeatedly sexually assaulted her. According to reports, the radicalist perpetrator had become acquainted with the minor Hindu girl and began pressuring her to enter into a relationship and marry him. Despite her repeated refusal, he continued to harass and pursue her.
As per Vijayavani reports, the incident reportedly took place on August 29, when the girl was staying at her grandmother’s house. Ismail Sheikh abducted her while she was on her way to school and subjected her to sexual assault. He subsequently concealed the minor inside a plastic drum at his residence, apparently attempting to hide her from others. The accused Ismail Sheikh reportedly continued to keep her concealed before taking her elsewhere.
The incident came to light after Ismail Sheikh took the girl to a relative’s house, claiming that he had brought her along for a local fair. Upon learning the circumstances, his relatives intervened and helped ensure the girl’s safety. Following a complaint from the victim’s family, the Jevargi police registered a case and initiated further investigation.
The Home Minister, who constantly targets the RSS, must first look into his own district and address the growing concerns over women’s safety and dignity. First and foremost, there is not even a single woman represented in the Congress government’s cabinet. If the government cannot ensure adequate representation and respect for women within its own ranks, how can people expect it to guarantee women’s safety across the state? A party that fails to demonstrate responsibility towards women and is preoccupied with political appeasement, backbiting, and bootlicking politics has little moral authority to lecture others. Before targeting the RSS, the Home Minister must take responsibility for the crimes happening in his own district and ensure justice for Hindu victims.
