Youth booked under alleged false SC-ST Act case attempts suicide live on FB: Jind, Haryana

In Haryana, a case of alleged misuse of SC ST Act has come to the fore. A 24-year-old youth living in village Paju Kalan in Safidon area of Jind district tried to commit suicide by drinking a poisonous substance during Facebook Live. He was under severe depression, as he was entrapped under a false SC/ST case.

However, few people reached on time and rescue the victim. The young man was admitted to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to Rohtak. The youth was identified as Deepak, whose condition is said to be critical at this moment.

The young man mentioned in his suicide letter that about 9 people had attacked him and his 5 companions in the past. Both sides were injured in the fight, but the youth of the Dalit side got the SC-ST Act registered against them.

Deepak was hiding for 10 days to avoid arrest and legal action. The victim mentioned in his suicide letter that Rs 10 to 12 lakh was being demanded from him. Deepak said that he comes from a very poor family, and he is unable to arrange such a huge amount. Fed up by constant torture and a false SC-ST case, he decided to end his life.

Deepak came live on Facebook and narrated the entire incident. During this time he kept crying uncontrollably. In the end he called for strict action to be taken against those responsible for his death and drank pesticide.

Seeing Deepak’s Facebook Live, his friends reached out to help him and got him admitted in the hospital. At present the condition of the youth is said to be very serious.
