The Karnataka High Court had earlier strongly criticised the Bengaluru Police for their handling of complaints filed by Bengaluru-based doctor and activist Dr. T. Nagendrappa. He had alerted the authorities about the suspected presence of illegal Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Nasreena and Mohammad Bilal, in the Bellandur and Varthur areas, urging the police to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action.
Police action and high court intervention
Instead of adequately examining his allegations, the police registered criminal cases against Nagendrappa following counter-complaints of assault filed by the Islamist individuals he had reported. He was subsequently arrested. Justice M. Nagaprasanna, while hearing the matter, criticised the police for acting with unusual haste and quashed the two FIRs, describing the prosecution as an abuse of the legal process. The court observed that the counter-complaints bore clear indications of retaliation against an informant.
Fresh assault in Bengaluru
In a disturbing development, Dr. Nagendra has reportedly been brutally assaulted at Hulimangala, near Electronic City, Bengaluru. According to Mangalorean.com reports, the attack occurred while he was identifying suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and sharing information with the police to facilitate lawful action. His condition is reportedly critical, and he is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Demands for immediate action
The reported attack by the radical Islamic illegal immigrants has raised serious concerns about the safety of citizens who cooperate with law enforcement agencies. An individual who brings suspected unlawful activities to the attention of the authorities must not be subjected to violence or intimidation. The incident warrants a thorough investigation, the immediate identification of Islamist goons, the arrest of those responsible, and strict legal action against the perpetrators.
The reported assault by the radical elements is deeply condemnable. The authorities must ensure Dr. Nagendra’s safety, establish the circumstances surrounding the attack, and hold those responsible accountable. No citizen should have to fear for their life for bringing information to law enforcement. Violence and intimidation must never be allowed to undermine the rule of law or silence those who seek to uphold it.
If the police are unable to identify illegal immigrants, let citizens identify and report suspected cases to the authorities. Nobody should be allowed to stop them from doing so. Hindu organizations and concerned citizens must continue their efforts through lawful means. Illegal immigrants have no right to stay in Bharat in violation of our laws, nor do they have any right to attack or threaten our people. Anyone involved in such attacks must be identified and punished strictly under the law.
