Irfan arrested for storing explosive materials after explosion rocks residential area: Sonipat

An explosion, reportedly caused by a short circuit igniting explosive materials, that occurred in one of the houses threw the residents of Shanti Vihar in Haryana’s Sonipat into a state of panic. The owner of the house has been taken into custody by the police.

Ravindra Kumar, the Incharge of the Civil Line Police Station, provided details of the incident, stating that the explosion happened in the residence of an individual named Irfan in the Shanti Vihar area of Sonipat district. The explosion was triggered by a combination of explosive materials comprising sulfur and potash, which had been stored in the house. This resulted in significant damage to a part of the room and the burning of some plastic furniture.

As soon as the explosion occurred, fear and alarm spread throughout the neighborhood, prompting residents to notify the Sonipat Police. In response to the distress call, the local police and a bomb disposal squad swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the explosion. Ravindra Kumar stated, “We have taken Irfan into custody and filed charges against him under the Indian Penal Code Section 285 and the Indian Explosives Act.” Additional details regarding the incident are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
