“Brings shame to entire Meitei community”: Manipur viral video accused’s house set on fire by his own village women, Swarajyamag, July 21, 2023:

“After a video emerged from Manipur showing the sexual assault of two women from the Kuki-Zomi community, four individuals, including the main suspect Huirem Herodas Meitei, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Herodas is a 32-year-old man hailing from Pechi Awang Leikai and was arrested early morning on Thursday (20 July) in an operation by the Manipur Police.

Upon receiving news of Herodas’ arrest, the women of his own village gathered and, after a brief discussion, marched towards the accused’s residence. As a united force, they vandalized the house and eventually set it ablaze…..”
