A Hindu youth named Tejkaran was shot in the leg by a group of Muslims led by Mohammad Siddiq at Bikaner’s Sohan Kothi complex leading to a tense situation in the area. The dispute between Tejkaran and the group of Muslims led to a five-hour blockade of the main road causing inconvenience to the public.
BJP’s Laxmikant Bharadwaj shared videos of the horrific incident and tweeted, “Sajid, Sadik, Firoz, Irfan, Shahrukh, Sikander attacked Tejkaran Gelhlot in Bikaner. He has been shot in his leg” while adding that the Muslims in large numbers pelted stones at the public who decided to keep shut the markets in support of the victim.
The Bikaner police in its reply to Bharadwaj’s tweet said “The issue is not that big. It revolves around a dispute over a shop in Sohan Kothi. The police had arrested several people in the case earlier. We are investigating the issue now”.
As per reports, Rajesh Tanwar had rented out his shop outside the Sohan Kothi area to Mohammad Siddiq. However, since Siddiq failed to pay the rent for several months, Tanwar asked him to vacate the shop. When Rajesh’s brother-in-law Tejkaran passed by the shop, Siddiq and his associates attacked him and shot him in the leg.
The incident took place at 5.30 in the evening, following which the entire market was cordoned off. Reports also indicate that the victim was lying on the road for a long time while Muslims who had arrived in large numbers began vandalizing the vehicles, burning tires, and setting furniture afire.
Later public reached the Ambedkar circle demanding the arrest of the accused and then proceeded to the Hospital road where some are alleged to have entered the PBM Hospital disrupting the trauma center.
Bikaner Police force including ASP City Amit Kumar, CO City Deepchand, Kotgate SHO Manoj Machra, Sadar SHO SN Godara reached the spot on being informed of the incident and the police subsequently conducted a flag march in the area at 12 PM.
“Kotgate SHO Manoj Machra said that on the report of the complainant Prakash Solanki at 11 pm, a case of murderous assault was registered against Mohammad Sajid, Mohammad Gul, Mohammad Firoz, Mohammad Saddiq, Firoz, Irfan, Shahrukh, Sikandar, Zafar, and Saddam. The raids continued till late night at the premises of the accused to arrest them”, reported OpIndia.
It is worth mentioning that the Bikaner police had taken several people into custody including Tejkaran, who was later granted bail, in connection with the same dispute.
