Attacks on Seva Bharati ambulances in Kerala

Last week, a Seva Bharati Ambulance was attacked in the Kannur district of Kerala. Seva Bharati is a non-governmental organization (NGO) inspired by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) that works among the economically weaker sections of Bharatiya society, including Janjatiya communities. The incident took place in Koodali, in Thalassery taluk. Several people, including the relatives of the deceased in the ambulance, were injured. Vipin and Abhijith who were in the ambulance were hurt in the beating. Seva Bharati accused CPM workers of being behind the attack.

The attack occurred on the Swayamsevaks who ferried a dead body from Kozhikode Medical College to a crematorium near Iritty in the high ranges of Kannur. When the dead body was brought to the crematorium, a mob attacked Vipin and Abhijith. Both were admitted to the hospital with injuries.

Though local police arrived and rescued the victims, they were not admitted to the hospital immediately. Instead, they were taken to the Mattannur police station and made to wait for one and a half hours before being shifted to a private hospital.

A few days ago, DYFI workers attacked a Seva Bharati ambulance in Kollam district. Sarath, the ambulance driver was injured in the attack that took place near the Kannamath Sree Bhadra Devi Temple in Uliyakovil, Kollam. Sarath alleged the attack was carried out under the leadership of local Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists Manu, Adarsh, Kittu and others. The assailants also stole Rs 5,000 from the driver’s pocket.

The group was consuming alcohol on the side of the road and stopped the ambulance. They opened the door, took the driver down to the road, and brutally beat him. The incident took place at night. Sarath was seriously injured that day. The assailants grabbed Rs 5,000 from Sarath, which he had kept for filling the diesel in the ambulance. The injured Sarath was admitted to the hospital. The Sevabharati Nagar Samiti filed a complaint with the East Police in the incident. Media reports suggested the accused were not arrested yet.

Last day there was a report that communist influencer Akash Tillankeri had beaten up the police. It should be understood from all this that CPM’s allies are beating up those who are supposed to stop the violence. From all this, it is clear that Kerala is being ruled by a party that is trying to destroy even a life supporter like Seva Bharati.

Tillankeri, the accused in the Shuaib murder case, beat the jailer who was called for questioning on the suspicion of using mobile phones inside the jail. The incident took place in Viyyur Central Jail on the afternoon of May 25. Assistant Jailer Rahul was assaulted. Rahul had to undergo treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital. A complaint was lodged with Viyyur Police against Tillankeri in the incident.

Viyyur police informed that they will record the statement of jailer Rahul who was beaten and file a case. Tillankeri is a KAAPA (Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act) prisoner in Viyyur Central Jail. On 12 February 2018, Youth Congress Constituency President Shuaib was killed in Edayannur. Shuhaib was drinking tea with his friends when the attack happened. A Quotation gang threw a bomb, created a terrorist atmosphere, and killed Shuaib hacking him several times.

Apart from the Shuhaib murder case, Tillankeri is accused in 12 cases including the murder of RSS worker Vineesh. Akash was expelled from the CPM after Shuaib was accused in the murder case.
