To make the state of Assam drug free, Assam Police has been initiating operations on a regular basis. Now, Special Task Force(STF) has apprehended a drug peddler and recovered substantial amounts of heroin.
On the 11th of December, Wednesday, the STF of the Assam Police arrested a drug peddler during a raid in Betkuchi area of the Guwahati town and recovered 239 grams of heroin. The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Nuruh Hoque((45). Nurul Hoque is a resident of Dholai area under the Cachar district. He
was intercepted at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Betkuchi under the Garchuk police station.
Pranab Jyoti Goswami, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Assam Police, stated, “Acting on intelligence input, a team of STF conducted a raid inside ISBT and apprehended a drug peddler while he was attempting to smuggle contraband.”
The operation led to the recovery of 19 soap boxes containing heroin, weighing a total of 239.5 grams, along with a mobile phone from the suspect’s possession. Further legal action has been initiated against the arrested person, informed the officials.
