Assam: Rotten body of missing Hindu girl recovered, angry locals block road

Yesterday night, angry locals blocked the road at Rangirkhari Point protesting against the alleged rape and murder of the missing Hindu girl Pinki Roy(19). Citing police inaction to recover the girl, locals blocked the road for hours. When the talks didn’t bring any result, police fired gunshots in the air at last to disperse the crowd.

On the 18th of July, the mutilated body of the missing girl Pinki Roy(19) was recovered from an under-construction building in the Dwarbond area. Some locals saw her mutilated body and informed the police. The body was rotten and a foul smell was coming from the body, said eyewitnesses.

After receiving news from the police, her parents went to the spot and identified their beloved daughter.

Locals alleged that the girl was brutally murdered. They said, “The scene was undoubtedly distressing, and the mutilation suggests that she may have been subjected to sexual assault and a horrifying acid attack, indicating a brutal death.”

In protest against this brutal murder, the angry locals gathered in Rangirkhari and blocked the Hailakandi Road. They alleged that the police did not take necessary actions despite the complaint.

Numal Mahatta, SP of Cachar, expressed his grief and shock over the unfortunate incident and promised a fast and rigorous investigation into the matter to bring the perpetrator to justice.
