Precious Ashtadhatu murtis stolen from Radha-Krishna mandir: UP

Precious Ashtadhatu vigrahas of Radha-Krishna and the throne of Bhagwan were stolen from a Mandir in the Mahoba district of UP (Uttar Pradesh). Surprisingly, this temple is located inside the police station.

A total of 58 police officers, including one Inspector in charge, one Inspector (Crime), 11 sub-inspectors, and 10 Head Constables, are deployed at Kabrai police station where this incident occurred. However, the thief succeeded in taking away the murtis from the temple. There was a stir in the police station after this incident. At present, the police are searching for the thief. In such a situation, questions are now being raised on the claims of police patrolling. The stolen murtis are said to be made of Ashtadhatu and brass.

An ancient temple was established on the police station premises of Pathar Mandi Kabrai. The responsibility of the mandir’s care and maintenance depends on the police. The temple on the police station premises is the centre of faith for the city residents. Every morning and evening, many devotees come here for darshan and worship.

When people arrived for worship on Thursday morning (14 December), they saw that the murtis installed in the temple were missing. People said that the murti of Radha-Krishna made of Ashtadhatu, Panchmukhi Hanuman ji’s and Kali Mata’s vigrahas are missing from the temple.

Temple priest Naresh Tiwari says that when the puja was performed on Wednesday evening (13 December), all the vigrahas were there. But on Thursday morning, except for the stone murtis, about one-foot-tall Radha-Krishna vigraha made of Ashtadhatu and the throne were stolen. However, a plate, bell and other items were found lying outside.

There is a lot of resentment among the devotees coming to the temple regarding the theft in the temple built inside the police station premises. He said that the district’s security can be gauged because even the temple built in the police station premises is not safe from thieves. When Virendra Pratap Singh was asked about this, he gave a vague answer and said the vigrahas would be available soon.
