In a disturbing turn of events, a Hindu shopkeeper fell victim to a brutal assault perpetrated by a group of Islamists in Gujarati Galli, Koti, Hyderabad. The incident, which unfolded on March 13, has reignited concerns regarding communal tensions in the region. The incident video captured by CCTV cameras and circulated in social media shows a clash between individuals representing various communities, wherein a Hindu shopkeeper was observed being assaulted by an Islamist mob.

According to police records dated March 13th, allegations of mutual assault were lodged by Narpath Lal and Syed Akber. Based on the reports from Times Now, Narpath Lal asserted that he was assaulted by Akber and his sibling, whereas Akber accused Narpath Lal and his companions of attacking him. The altercation stemmed from water inadvertently spilling onto Narpath Lal’s shop from Akber’s location. Both individuals have had charges filed against them under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene as the Islamist mob stormed into the shop, shouting incendiary slogans and unleashing a barrage of violence upon the shopkeeper. Despite his attempts to defend himself, the Hindu victim was outnumbered and overpowered by the sheer intensity of the assault.

This incident has sparked parallels to a recent event in Karnataka, where a shopkeeper in Bengaluru was reportedly attacked by an Islamist mob of five men for playing ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ loudly on speakers during the ‘Azaan’ time. Some right-wing activists have pointed fingers at the Congress government for this incidents. According to eyewitnesses, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed for safety reasons, was operating his shop when he was ambushed by a gang of Islamist assailants. Reports suggest that the attackers, armed with weapons and fueled by religious fervor, launched a frenzied attack on the shopkeeper.

In a previous incident in Bengaluru’s Siddanna Layout, a shopkeeper was attacked after playing Hanuman Chalisa during the time of ‘Azaan’ also the incident that happened in Hyderabad, raises concerns regarding the safety of Hindus. The actions of extremist Islamist mobs have cast doubt on the security of Hindus in several areas.
