A century old mandir was reportedly demolished using JCB machines in Khadki of Maharashtra’s Akola. The incident occurred on Thursday (12 June) angering locals who threatened to hold protests if the accused were not arrested.

Although an ANN (Akola News Network) report attributed the heinous act to unidentified miscreants, The Treeni identified (tweet archived here) the accused as Jibrail Ibrahim Diwan (60), his son, and two of their accomplices. The accused not only demolished the mandir but also discarded the murtis. When local Hindus came to know of the demolition, they were angered. They gathered at the site demanding action against the accused.

As per available information, the police have registered a case against the main accused Jibrail Ibrahim Diwan but no arrests have been made in the case so far. Hindus have asked the police to reconstruct the mandir and restore the murtis in addition to punishing the culprits.
