Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 22 June to 28 June 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) The assault on Hindu civilization takes many forms, some violent, some insidious. None is more treacherous than the whitewashing of yoga, our most profound spiritual practice, into a sterile fitness routine baptized with Christian prayers.
2) In yet another disturbing instance of targeted missionary activity in Madhya Pradesh, an alleged religious conversion racket involving tribal minors has come to light from Chaubara Jagir village of Sonkutch Tehsil, Dewas district. Operating under the garb of a coaching class for underprivileged tribal children, the initiative focused on Christian religious indoctrination, luring tribal families with promises of money, education, and material incentives.
3) The centuries old Pandharpur Wari pilgrimage is now under attack by the Christian conversion mafia. An alert warkari belonging to Hindu organization Shivpratishthan caught a Christian woman distributing pamphlets with verses from the Bible. The conversion attempt was smartly disguised as a call to deaddiction, with mobile numbers given for the same in the pamphlets that were in Marathi (English translation from Google Translate shared above). The incident occurred in Pune’s Fatimanagar.
4) In a deeply disturbing incident, a 22-year-old man, Islamist Mussabir, was accused of molesting a minor girl in broad daylight. He was shot and arrested by police. The incident took place in Bareilly’s Izzatnagar area, when the school-going girl was on her way to a coaching centre around 3:30 PM. The act was captured on CCTV cameras near the scene.
5) A case of forced religious conversion has surfaced in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. Where Hindus were reportedly being lured with money and job offers and pressured to adopt Christianity.
6) An unsettling incident from Pune’s Camp area has sparked outrage and concern. A 57-year-old woman, identified as Nasim Shaikh, has been accused of throwing bones and red-coloured meat at devotees participating in the revered Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage. The incident took place near Gaibipir Dargah, close to Mammadevi Chowk, along Solapur Road, an area that falls on the Wari route.
7) Soros-Funded Progressive International’s Varsha Gandikota peddled lies about Bharatiyas wanting to join IDF (Israeli Defence Force) to “Kill Muslims.” An Israeli Embassy Official called it ‘100% fake news.’
8) Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur have revealed an alarming instance of unlawful medical practice combined with reported attempts at religious conversion. An illegal doctor was held for coercing Hindus to Christianity in Jabalpur.
9) A horrifying case from Delhi’s Ashok Nagar has sparked widespread outrage after a 19-year-old Hindu woman, Neha, was murdered by a man she once considered her brother. The accused Islamist, 30-year-old Taufiq-ur-Rehman, reportedly entered her residence disguised in a burqa and fatally pushed her from the rooftop of a five-storey building.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) Islamists in Bangladesh have been using imaginary blasphemy allegations to target and torture Hindu minorities for last few months. A fresh case has been reported from the Lalmonirhat district. Based on the imaginary blasphemy allegations, Islamists targeted and tortured Bishnu Chandra Shil and his father Paresh Chandra Shil. They live in the Goshala market area of the Lalmonirhat district. Some Islamists spread rumours that they made obscene remarks against Islam’s prophet Muhammad. As the rumours spread, Islamists gathered in the market. A local informed that Islamists dragged them out of their home and started to beat them.
2) A fresh case of land grabbing of minority community has been reported from the Coomilla district. Islamists grabbed the lands of Sri Sri Chandi Mata Mandir, situated in Lalmai Upazila of the Coomilla district.
3) A Muslim mob laid siege to a Mandir in Khilkhet neighbourhood in Dhaka city and threatened devotees to vacate the land or face demolition. According to reports, the extremists gathered outside the ‘Sri Sri Durga Mandir’ and gave an ultimatum to the devotees to remove the Mandir by 12 pm on Tuesday (24 June). They vowed to demolish the Mandir if the minority Hindu community did not bow down to their diktat.
4) A Durga Mandir in Dhaka was demolished by the administration 2 days after a large mob threatened to bring it down. As per reports, the Khilkhet Sarbajanin Durga Mandir was demolished based on an order issued by Bangladesh Railway’s Dhaka Division Deputy Commissioner and Divisional Estate Officer Md. Nasir Uddin Mahmud.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
