“A harrowing case of sexual exploitation and coercion has emerged from Jamnagar, Gujarat, where Muhammad Akram, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker, is accused of raping a Hindu woman for three years under the false promise of marriage, forcing her to convert to Islam, and sexually abusing her 7-year-old daughter.
The victim’s complaint has led to a case being registered against Akram at the Jamnagar City A Division Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police have recorded the victim’s statement and are actively investigating the case. The victim, a Hindu woman, met Akram during the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections when she was facing personal hardships. Akram, presenting himself as a supportive figure, allegedly lured her into a relationship with promises of help and marriage…….”
