In a horrifying case of brutality, a 14-year-old Scheduled Caste (SC) girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad was allegedly abducted, held captive for several days, and subjected to inhumane torture, including physical assault and forced consumption of food against her religious beliefs. According to the police, the girl was repeatedly assaulted by four Islamist men during her captivity. The accused allegedly burned her skin with acid, and inflicted further psychological and physical abuse.
As per Aaj Tak, the incident came to light after the victim’s family lodged a complaint detailing the extreme cruelty she faced. The complaint states that on January 2, 2025, while the girl was on her way to a tailor, she was forcibly taken by the accused in a vehicle. She was reportedly drugged to render her unconscious and taken to a secluded location where the abuse began. For days, she endured repeated assaults while her captors inflicted deliberate physical harm, including pouring acid on her hand to destroy a religious symbol. When she asked for food, the accused allegedly forced her to consume meat against her will.
Following the complaint, the Bhagatpur Police Station registered a case against four accused—Salman, Zubair, Rashid, and Arif—under multiple serious charges, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Panchal confirmed that one of the accused has been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the others.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with political leaders and civil society condemning the brutality. Samajwadi Party leader Ashutosh Verma described the case as a shameful reminder of the vulnerability of marginalized communities. He criticized the ruling government for failing to protect SC girls and questioned why such heinous crimes continue despite repeated promises of justice.
Verma further called for a thorough investigation into the physical and emotional abuse inflicted on the victim, demanding the harshest punishment for the perpetrators. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has faced intense scrutiny, with demands for swift legal action and better protection for Hindu girls.
Authorities have assured the public that the investigation is being pursued with urgency and that those responsible for this horrific crime will face the full force of the law.
