The most awaited peace agreement between both States and the Central Government and faction of the terrorist organisation ULFA(United Liberation Front of Asom) is likely to be signed by the end of this year or in January next year.
Right now, two senior leaders of the pro-talk faction of ULFA are currently in Delhi.
Anup Chetia, a senior leader of ULFA who is currently in Delhi told that the talks between ULFA and the Central Government are now in the final stage.
“We are expecting that the peace pact between ULFA and the Central Government will be signed by the end of this year. We are very much hopeful”, said Chetia.
Notably, ULFA is armed terrorist group, which operates in vast region of Assam and in other states of North-East region. Earlier, several attempts of peace has been filed due to several factions within ULFA.
In 2011, a faction of the armed group indicated to lay down arms. Later, in the same year, the terrorist group submitted a 12-point charter of demands to he Central Government including Constitutional and political arrangements and reforms, protection of the identity of the indigenous population of Assam.
Earlier, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma indicated that the talks between ULFA and the Central Government are in final stage and an accord with the armed outfit could be signed in December this year and in January next year.
