Bangladesh: Attack on Hindu temple in Patuakhali, Murti vandalised

Miscreants vandalized a murti of Maa Manasha Mandir near Ansar camp area  in Patuakhali district town on the night of October 30.

The OC of Patuakhali Sadar Police Station said that the statue of Saraswati at the Mansa temple was vandalized.

Sameer Kumar Das, president of the temple committee told reporters “Many wake up every morning and go to the temple to pay obeisance.  This morning they went and found that the idol of Saraswati had been broken and left on the floor. Later the matter was reported to the administration.”

Deities Mansa and Saraswati are worshiped annually in the temple. Apart from this, Mansa Puja is performed every Sunday.

He strongly condemned and protested and demanded that those involved be quickly brought to book.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Saifur Rahman said after visiting the scene, “The criminals will be identified and brought under the law by collecting CCTV footage of the area.”

As of now, no one has been arrested in this regard.
