“Before I dwell upon an answer to the title, the last war fought by China was against Vietnam and in 1979. As per ET report, the wars before that were 1969 Sino-Russia Border clashes, 1963 with USSR over disputed area, 1962 with India and 1954 Taiwan straits crisis. China intervened in the 1950 Korea War. China seeks to achieve its objectives without going to war. Display of power is usually subtle. Sun-tzu wrote, “The highest realization of warfare is to attack the enemy’s plans, next is to attack their alliances; next to attack their army and the lowest is to attack their fortified cities.” The Complete Art of War by R D Sawyer.

1. China wishes to use national energy and resources to build Comprehensive National Power (simply means economic and military power).

2. China seeks to achieve its objectives without firing a missile.

It uses other tools for e.g. it captured the U.S. market, destroying its small-scale sector and more, by supplying goods at low prices and controlling the supplies of rare earth minerals hitting Europe, Japan and India too………………”
