“The Nine Emperor Gods Festival: Celebrating a celestial visit”, Straits Times, October 9,2024:

“Amid the loud drilling and clanging of metal as workers put up tentage, temple volunteers gathered in Leong Nam Temple in Sengkang, where preparations for the Nine Emperor Gods Festival were in full swing.

Spanning nine days beginning on the eve of the ninth lunar month, the annual Taoist celebration – which in 2024 runs from Oct 3 to 11 – symbolises spiritual cleansing and invokes blessings of health, prosperity and peace.

Worshippers of the Nine Emperor Gods believe the deities to be nine stars surrounding the Big Dipper constellation. The deities are considered to be the offspring of the Taoist goddess Doumu……”
