“Bangladesh is rightfully idiotic! They started out under Yunus thinking that they would carve a gleaming new legacy, only to trip over their lungi and into a geopolitical slapstick saga. They have, within the shortest time, managed to alienate India, Myanmar, and maybe even China. In hindsight now, it looks less a legacy and more a lesson in how to turn neighbours into nemeses.
The Great Rebrand
In March 2025, Yunus strutted into Beijing, Nobel glow on full blast, signing deals for ports and power plants. It was almost like Bangladesh was done being India’s shadow, and it was time to shine as South Asia’s slick dealmaker! Billions in Chinese loans, whispers of a multipolar future, and a cheeky nod to being the “key to India’s Northeast.” Oh, what a vibe that was!
Turns out that vibes do not stop bullets when smugglers and rebels crash the Party. And so, on 4th October 2025, the Arakan Army, riding high on their Rohingya grudge, hammered those borderlands. Gunshots popped like champagne corks, and sent Bangladesh villagers diving for cover, as they wondered I am sure “What’s with this early Diwali? Didn’t we finish all the Hindus already…….”
