ATS uncovers shocking nexus in the illegal Bangladeshi intruders case, more arrests made: Raipur, C’garh

Many shocking revelations have been made in the case of preparing fake documents and sheltering Bangladeshi intruders in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. After questioning the three Bangladeshi brothers arrested by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS), Raipur Police has issued a lookout circular against mastermind Sheikh Ali. Mumbai ATS had arrested three Bangladeshi citizens Sheikh Ismail, Sheikh Akbar and Sheikh Sajan some time ago.

During the investigation, it was found that fake passports, Aadhar cards, voter IDs, ration cards and other government documents were prepared for their citizenship. The verification process of these documents was completed by Tikrapara police station, but the police did not detect the fraud at that time.

Sheikh Ali sheltering illegal Bangladeshis

Sheikh Ali, the accused of providing shelter to Bangladeshi intruders in Raipur, is continuously eluding the police. There is also a possibility of him fleeing to Bangladesh. Earlier it was believed that he might be hiding at his relatives’ places in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh or Bengal.

However, the local police have said that so far no information has been received about his presence at these places. Meanwhile, the police arrested computer operator Mohammad Arif on Monday for making fake documents of three Bangladeshi brothers.

Police and ATS take strict measures

The ATS team is constantly monitoring Sheikh Ali’s wife Farida and son Faiz. ATS officials say that Sheikh Ismail, Sheikh Akbar and Sheikh Sajan, who have been sent to jail, will be interrogated again on remand and some important documents will be seized.

If necessary, all three will be taken to Nagpur. Relatives of Sheikh Ali, who is absconding with these three, live there. All his relatives are also included in the scope of the investigation. Information is also being gathered about Sheikh Ali’s second wife Shehla Parveen. Sheikh has also been found to have relations with many Muslim women.

Mohammed Arif and Sheikh Ali formed an organized racket to prepare fake documents for Bangladeshis and send them out of the country illegally. A case has been registered in Golbazar police station under sections 336 (3), 337, 338, 340 (1) and Arif has been produced in court and taken on a two-day police remand.

Mumbai and Raipur ATS have arrested three Bangladeshi intruders trying to escape to Iraq using fake documents. Sheikh Ismail, Sheikh Akbar and Sheikh Sajan, among the intruders, have been sent to jail.

Tikrapara police station chief Vinay Singh Baghel said that 50-year-old Mohammad Arif, a resident of Phool Chowk Nayapara (Golbazar) and operator of Satkar Computer Center at Kachhari Chowk, who made fake documents of the Bangladeshi brothers, has been arrested and is being interrogated.

During the investigation, it was found that apart from the three Bangladeshi brothers who were sent to jail, Arif had made fake documents of many Bangladeshis. He used to scan other people’s documents and make fake voter IDs, PAN cards, Aadhar cards etc.

The accused had used fake documents to obtain visas. After the arrest of these three, the police and ATS team are now searching for those who helped them. ATS officials have written a letter to the tehsil, municipal corporation and district election office regarding the fake documents and sought information about the people who helped in making voter IDs for Bangladeshi intruders.

Indications of a wider nexus of illegal intruders

After this, it also came to light that many Bangladeshis have been living in Raipur for years and have gone to Dubai, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan with the help of fake documents. Investigation revealed that the mastermind of this entire racket was Sheikh Ali, who prepared fake documents for Bangladeshi intruders. Sheikh Ali, along with Satkar Computer Center operator Mohammad Arif, got fake school mark sheets scanned, which helped in making their passports. Travel agent Irfan helped in making passports and visas to go to Iraq.

Investigation so far also revealed that many Bangladeshis have gone abroad in the same way with the help of fake documents. Sheikh Ali’s second wife is also absconding, while the first wife Sheikh Farida has denied having any information about this.

A lookout circular has been issued against Sheikh Ali. The police have contacted officials from Nagpur, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata and are searching for Sheikh Ali. More than 25 people who made fake documents have been questioned, including advocates, notaries, facilitation centres and centre operators. The police have arrested Satkar Computer Centre operator Mohammad Arif and sent him to jail. The three Bangladeshi brothers have been produced in court and sent to jail on judicial remand.

These incidents of Bangladeshis living illegally in Raipur getting government documents made and going abroad have become a matter of serious concern for national security. Last year, the Mumbai ATS conducted a raid in the Tikrapara area and gathered information about a Bangladeshi citizen who had gone to Syria but has not yet returned.
