“As the preparations for the battle of the 2025 Bihar assembly elections are gaining pace, the major question emerging is the leadership of the contesting combinations. In the last assembly polls in 2020, current chief minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav were in a direct contest.
Early trends in the ongoing poll campaign are showing that it may again be a repeat of the 2020 contest. Nitish Kumar, despite battling a major crisis of image management following reports of his illness and the full-throttled assault launched on his government by poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, is slowly regaining control and confidence.
On the other hand, regarded as < the strongest opposition leader and the direct challenger to chief minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav continues to retain the position of prime rival despite a slip in popularity, if the various opinion polls being ferreted out are to be believed. Opinion polls, which had earlier shown him as the clear frontrunner with 33-40% support, now place him at around 25%……”
