“Mamata’s MP Saket Gokhale, who used to mock Savarkar for ‘clemency petition’, offers grovelling apology to former diplomat Lakshmi Puri”, Opindia, June 10, 2025:

“Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saket Gokhale, who had previously mocked and ridiculed freedom fighter Veer Savarkar over his ‘clemency petitions’, apologised publicly for his tweets against ex-diplomat Lakshmi Puri on Tuesday (10th June).

In a tweet, the controversial politician from Mamata Banerjee’s party pleaded, “I unconditionally apologise for having put-out a series of tweets against Amb. Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri on 13th and 23rd June 2021, which tweets contained wrong and unverified allegations in relation to the purchase of property by Amb. Puri abroad, which I sincerely regret.”

His apology was also published prominently in the national daily ‘The Times of India.’

The development comes days after the Delhi High Court reprimanded the TMC MP and asked him why he shouldn’t be sent to civil prison for failing to comply with the court’s order…….”
