“On Saturday (25th January), former Trinamool Congress MP Jawhar Sircar courted controversy after he passed off a father-daughter duo from Uttarakhand as ‘Kuki and Meitiei pair from burning Manipur.’
Sircar, who is not new to spreading fake news on social media, wanted to peddle propaganda over the sensitive situation in the Northeastern state of Manipur.
In a tweet (archive) on Saturday, he claimed, “How lovely and melodious! I am told they are a Kuki-Meitei pair from burning Manipur!……”
