“A network of Facebook pages and profiles promoting actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is alleged to have links to administrators based in Pakistan, raising questions over the origins of some of the social media accounts being used to build Vijay’s political image.

The findings point to a pattern in which existing Facebook pages with unrelated identities are allegedly acquired, renamed and repurposed to post content about Vijay and TVK.

One example cited is a page that reportedly changed its identity multiple times, from “Tahiru Quadri Fan’s 2.0” to “Fan Of Owaisi”, then “Ayatullah Khamenie Fans”, before eventually becoming “Vijay Thalapathy TVK.”

The apparent transformation raises a basic question: how does a page that once presented itself as a fan page associated with figures from Pakistan and the wider Islamic political sphere suddenly become a Tamil Nadu political page supporting Vijay?……………………….”
