Caste reservation is a challenge to the integrity of the country: NSS Sukumaran Nair

Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary G. Sukumaran Nair accused the ruling Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM) government of fostering communal rivalry. Nair presented the 110th NSS budget at Perunna near Changanassery in the Kottayam district.

Governments and political parties are distancing themselves from the Hindu general community. He said that the central and state governments are ignoring the general category of Hindus. Communalism is growing in all areas. Nair said that the general community is being neglected in every sector.

NSS will continue opposing the wrong policies of the governments and cooperating with good causes. If the governments don’t learn from failure, there will be more setbacks.

(The ruling communist coalition lost 19 out of 20 Lok Sabha seats they contested in Kerala. NDA candidate Suresh Gopi won the Thrissur seat and is now the central Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Ministry of Tourism.)

NSS is an exemplary service organization in the field of private education. However, the functioning of its schools and colleges is not smooth today. Government officials are deliberately ignoring the appointment and recognition of staff in aided schools managed by the Hindu community.

It is unreasonable to shut down all aided management institutions because some may be corrupt. Any attempt to destroy the aided education sector will not be accepted. Action should be initiated against all sorts of corruption.

Caste reservation is a challenge to the integrity of the country. Reservation concessions dilute the eligibility criteria in the fields of education and employment. Implementing a caste census will lead to more corruption in the name of reservation.

The clamour for caste reservation and caste-wise census is part of the appeasement policy adopted by political parties, yielding to the pressure tactics of caste groups as vote banks. This goal was not achieved after 76 years of independence due to the lack of practicality.

The NSS General Secretary demanded that caste reservation, which divides the people along caste lines for vote politics, should be stopped. An alternative system should be implemented where everyone is treated equally regardless of caste and religion.

Nair presented the 2024-2025 budget with an income of Rs 157 crore 55 lakh and equivalent expenditure.

Is the new BJP government interested in the fair demands of the General category of Hindus? Will it continue appeasing the minorities and keep dividing Hindus in the name of caste?
