Mamata Banerjee visits Murshidabad, targeted BSF, not a single word against Islamists

After twenty three days, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited violence hit Murshidabad where she met some of the families who were victims of anti-Hindu violence. In her speech, Mamata Banerjee targeted BSF for the violence. And surprisingly, she didn’t utter a single word against the Islamists responsible for the anti-Hindu violence.

However, many Hindus of the villages openly expressed their grievances against the state police and demanded permanent camp of Central Forces in the village for security. Besides, many Hindu families rejected compensation of the state government and they demanded only security.

Mamata Banerjee, in her speech said, “I believe if BSF didn’t shoot, then second day violence would not have happened.” But, she didn’t said anything against the Islamists who started the violence against the Hindu villagers.

Mamata Banerjee also said that her government will do everything possible to bring normalcy in the lives of the violence hit people of Murshidabad. Although, families rejected the compensation announced by Mamata Banerjee. Also, family of members of deceased Hargovinda Das and Chandan Das were not present in the meeting. Parul Das, wife of Hargovinda Das today filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court seeking CBI investigation as she has no confidence in the investigation of the West Bengal police.

However, in her speech, Mamata Banerjee highlighted another less important issue. She said that migrant workers of Murshidabad district were targeted in different states of Bharat.

On 12 April, 2025, Hindu minorities of Murshidabad district were targeted. Several Hindu majority villages under the jurisdiction of Dhuliyan and Samserganj Police Station were targeted by the Islamists. Hindu houses were looted, vandalised and set on fire. The state police allegedly failed. Violence continued for three days. Betbona, Dighri and Jafrabad were most affected villages. To save their lives, Hindu families were forced to leave Murshidabad and take refuge in Maldah district.
