Sringeri Jagadguru Calls Cow Protection an Eternal Duty during Dharma Vijay Yatra 2025 in New Delhi

As part of his historic Dharma Vijay Yatra 2025 in the National Capital, Jagadguru Sringeri Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji addressed a distinguished gathering of Constitutional Dignitaries, Senior Bureaucrats, and Senior Police officials on November 17.

During the address, the Acharya delivered a profound mandate on the critical importance of Cow Protection (Go Samrakshana), emphasizing that it is not merely a tradition but a transformative power for humanity’s progress and an eternal Dharmic practice.

Drawing from the teachings of Adi Shankara, the Jagadguru highlighted that the term “Mother” is uniquely and inextricably associated with the cow due to her nurturing nature. He explored the broader context of the word “Mother,” noting its exclusive usage in relation to Divine figures and the cow, transcending the earthly self.

Shankaracharya traced the historical significance of cattle, noting that for thousands of years, they have been the backbone of agriculture and human survival. He noted that the sustenance provided to humanity has primarily come from cattle. He cautioned that the changes in food production and agriculture witnessed over the last five decades have impacted human survival, urging a return to the moral responsibility humans owe to these animals.
