There are crimes, and then there are crimes that rip through the soul of a society, leaving behind questions we cannot ignore. As per Loksatta, the shocking case of Imran Sheikh, the so-called ‘Nariyal Wala Fakir’ from Mumbra, falls squarely into the latter category. What has emerged from the survivor’s FIR is not just a case of rape but a meticulously planned, psychologically manipulative, culturally targeted assault on a Hindu woman. It is a textbook example of predatory exploitation wrapped in superstition, intimidation, and deceit.

And yet, such cases barely shake the system. They rarely force governments or law enforcement to introspect. Why? Because the victims belong to the majority community, Hindu women, and political correctness demands silence when the accused belongs to a minority Islamic group.

According to the FIR, the survivor was lured, isolated, raped, filmed, blackmailed, forcibly converted, and even coerced into consuming Gau-mans, an act meant to break her psychologically and culturally. This was a systematic grooming process that was crafted over months. The detailed account of coercion, sexual assault, and constant fear described on pages 5–6 of the FIR paints a terrifying picture of a predator exploiting both emotional vulnerability and religious beliefs.

Islamist Imran Sheikh did not simply attack a woman; he attacked a Hindu daughter’s body, mind, faith, and family. And he did it with the confidence of someone who believed he would never be caught.

Victim lured under the pretext of Yoga training

The 29-year-old survivor from Dombivli stated that Imran first approached her in July 2022, pretending to know her friend and claiming he wanted to learn yoga. He convinced her to visit Mumbra and then allegedly took her to an isolated house in Dattuwadi. Finding no one at home, he forcibly sexually assaulted her. The survivor told police that Imran warned her not to reveal anything, threatening to destroy her family using witchcraft if she resisted or told anyone.

Threats, blackmail, and video recording

As described in the FIR, Imran repeatedly assaulted her while recording intimate sexual assault videos without her consent (FIR copy). The survivor said he used these recordings to blackmail her, warning that he would show them to her parents and relatives. Terrified of social stigma and family safety, she stopped going out and lived under constant fear.

Forced conversion and consumption of ‘Gau-Mans’

The survivor has also alleged that Imran pressured her to convert to Islam and follow rituals associated with his community. In messages circulating with the complaint, it is alleged that she was coerced into consuming Gau-mans (cow meat). This has deeply disturbed Hindu groups, who are now demanding a thorough investigation and stringent punishment.

Repeated abuse across multiple locations

According to the FIR, Imran not only assaulted her in Mumbra but later took her to Akola, where he allegedly again exploited her under the guise of performing rituals to protect her from evil forces. He made her believe that her family was in danger because of black magic and used this fear to force physical relations multiple times.

Third marriage hidden from victim

The survivor later discovered that Imran was already married twice before trapping her. Only after reaching Mumbra again did she realize that she had effectively been pushed into becoming his third wife. When she confronted him, Imran allegedly increased his threats and torment, telling her that he could end her entire family through sorcery.

Victim escapes and approaches police

Unable to take the mental and physical torture, the survivor finally approached Ramnagar Police Station in Dombivli, filing a detailed complaint on 13 November 2025. The police registered an FIR under serious IPC sections, including sexual assault, intimidation, blackmail, and forced confinement.

The survivor and her family have stated that they fear retaliation from Imran’s network in Mumbra. Hindu organizations that have tagged senior officials have demanded that the case be transferred from Mumbra Police Station to Dombivli Police, citing bias and possible local pressure on the investigation team.

Hindu activists and community groups are urging Maharashtra DGP and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to intervene and ensure that Imran Sheikh’s full network, including associates involved in threats, conversion attempts, and occult activities, is thoroughly investigated. The case has reignited debate over the rising targeted exploitation of Hindu women under the guise of love, conversion, and fear-based manipulation.

How ‘Baba’ becomes a shield

Whenever an Islamist goon or predator commits a crime, a very predictable pattern appears in mainstream media reporting. Instead of calling the accused what he really is, an Islamist radical, an Imran, an Arif, a Sheikh, a Khalid, or a Sayyed, the media suddenly starts using the word ‘baba’, a term that carries a Hindu cultural tone.

This pattern did not start today. It has been happening for decades. In every sphere—law, politics, media, activism, and academia—Hindus are pushed to the other side, where justice is never guaranteed, where the victim is forgotten, and where the Hindu identity itself becomes a burden. Every time a Hindu girl is trapped, blackmailed, converted, raped, drugged, or forced to eat Gau-mans, the ecosystem rushes to hide the identity of the Islamist predator. But when even a minor allegation involves a Hindu, the same ecosystem launches a national campaign, headlines roar, debates erupt, and Hindus are collectively made to feel guilty.

In this case, the Nariyalwala Fakir, in reality an Islamist predator, must be brought to justice for his inhumane, manipulative, and predatory acts. His crimes are not just immoral; they are a brutal example of radicalized exploitation hiding behind fake spiritual labels, and he must face the strictest punishment under the law.
